Wyatt mixing business w/ pleasure

Note from the CEO: I posted this on Wyatt’s behalf after we had password snags on the LGM blog. Anyway . . . sounds like Uncle Wyatt is living LGM style . . .

So yesterday was an overall great day. I woke up in Bend, OR to…wait for it…wait for it…BLUE sky! Not yellow-brown sky. Not air one can hardly see through, but clear air, gorgeous mountains in the distance, and blue sky. Ahhhhhh…

Onward to Salem where I met my mamma for lunch and pitched her friend on all the glories of Pronetos. From there it was down to Corvallis where, after a quick detour past the newly renovated Reser stadium (home of the 2008 National Champion Beavers), I went to visit Krissa’s old friend Skip at ONAMI. What a cool place that is. They do micro and nano tech development. Krissa was pleased to learn that a project she had previously championed just this week landed a $7M for the lab. Man, those folks are really turning out commercialization of their discoveries. In just 10 minutes, I learned of close to $40M in biz development their lab has turned out recently. Very cool!

After leaving ONAMI, we went to downtown Corvallis (again, home of the 2008 National Champion Beavers) to grab a brew with Scott Kveton (k-VEE-tin). He is a really smart, really connected, really down-to-earth guy. We talked about everything from home improvement, to OpenID, to PeopleAggregator, to Facebook, to Pronetos, to brewing, to distinctions among whiskies. The most fun thing about Scott is that you can bring up new projects you’re read about (e.g., People Aggregator) and instead of his saying, “Yeah I read about that. Marc Canter does it again,” he’ll say, “Yeah I remember when Marc and I were hanging out in blah blah blah…” Scott’s got his finger on the pulse, I’ll tell you. Cool guy!

From there, we drove out to Newport where we landed at a cool BnB called Ocean House. Nice place, but veeeeeery quiet. The beach is very long and deep with fine clean sand. Those of you who are beach-goers will know what I mean when you find nice sand on a beach! It’s not too coarse and there isn’t much beach debris. After eating and sipping at the Rogue Brewery, it was to the beach for an evening stroll. The clouds rolled back to reveal TONS of stars. So you have the whispering ocean, fine sand and a sky full of stars. People, there are worse lots in life.

This morning, we ate crab quiche while chatting with a retired couple up from Davis, CA. Nice folks. They talked about how their son had started a business called Conphotti (sp?) which created confetti with personal photos on it. They didn’t last since they ran out of cash before any of their suitors picked them up, but it’s a cool idea. They got a lot of business from weddings and political rallies. They still own the patents, which makes me wonder if they’re still trying to sell them.

Ok, ok. there is too much to do at the coast to sit around blogging like a loser all morning. I’ll check in later, yo.
