Is business about people?
After going through Tech Launch, and then going to one of the Keiretsu deal screenings, one of the constant refrains you hear is that investors are looking to invest in PEOPLE - not ideas, not technologies, not in potential returns. In the end, investors are betting that the management team they are investing in, can get the job done.
And even in our everyday lives we go to businesses where we get treated like a person, not a number.
So why is it that I can visit website after website and cannot find a company executive, or their contact information listed ANYWHERE? Here is a classic example: http://www.diamondz.com/index.php?id=2 - 105 employees and not a single one - not even the Sales and Marketing Director - is listed on the web site.
These days, the yellow pages is recycled before it even makes it into the house. The first stop for almost anyone who wants to learn about your business, is the Internet. So why the obfuscation? Get with it folks and get your people listed on your website. No one cares about your products and services until they get a feel for the people they will be dealing with if they choose to use your products and services. So do yourselves a favor and make your site about your people.
