Shameless plug
Long, long ago when I was in the Navy, Pronetos co-founder Shane Carlson and I took a trip to Big Bear to go skiing. We brought a guy with us named Matt C. who I think is a cop now. Anyway, Matt was from Texas and was a big country music fan. I grew up in Orange County, CA., and was a big fan of Metal. So, we’re at this bar after a day of skiing and there is this country band playing. I asked Matt, “Dude, what’s a big country song, I’m gonna see if they know it.” Now mind you, I had never heard a country song IN MY LIFE, and didn’t suspect that it was even possible that someone listened to something other than Van Halen in the 80s and 90s.
So Matt tells me: “Go up and ask ‘em to play ‘The Dance’” Now TODAY I know that this is like country music’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ but I had never even HEARD of Garth Brooks before that moment.
So I go sidling up to the band, and with massive confidence I ask the guitar player: “Have you ever heard of a song called ‘The Dance?’” Well as you can imagine it was one of those E.F. Hutton moments where the whole bar stopped and looked at me like I was STUPID. Of course they knew ‘The Dance.’ Only I didn’t.
Well this was a LONG way to say that as I write this post, I am thinking of another great Garth Brooks song called, ‘Shameless.’ Yes, here is a shameless plug for Chris.
Today, I used the marvelous Ning software to create the Boise State University Honors College Alumni Community. What? YES! I am a graduate, what ever made you guess?? Was it the fancy badge that Ning generates:
If by chance you too are a proud graduate of the Honors College at BSU, go to the site, put up a profile, and tell all the other Honors kids to go do the same. Or tell the graduates from WAY back if you know them too. How many of us are out there?? I am dying to know . . .
